Festival du Film Hongkongais de Paris
(Hong Kong Film Festival of Paris)
2022 – ongoing | Film Festival | Paris & Annecy, France
My Role: Founding Curator & Chief Organizer
The Hong Kong Film Festival in Paris is the only film festival in France dedicated entirely to Hong Kong cinema. It presents a curated selection of cinematic classics and recent works by both established and emerging Hong Kong filmmakers. Through screenings and cultural dialogues, the festival offers a unique platform to share Hong Kong’s cinematic voice with European audiences. In partnership with the City Hall of Paris (Mairie de Paris), the festival expanded beyond the capital in 2023 and 2024 through a regional collaboration with L’Auditorium Seynod, an official cultural venue of the City of Annecy. These editions extended the festival’s vision to new audiences, deepening its mission of fostering cross-cultural dialogue and connection. The programme is made possible through close collaboration with Hong Kong-based film companies and French distributors, allowing the festival to present rare classics, new releases, and independent works through official screening rights. With each edition, I strive to create a platform that not only celebrates Hong Kong cinema, but also connects artists, audiences, and ideas across continents. This journey continues to inspire me—challenging perceptions and deepening transnational understanding through film.

Hong Kong: Échos D’Une Ville
2024 | Arts Festival | L'Auditorium Seynod , Annecy, France
My Role: Curator & Organizer
Hong Kong: Échos D’Une Ville is the first cultural programme in Annecy dedicated entirely to the artistic, historical, and emotional landscapes of Hong Kong. Curated and organized by Lok Kan Cheung, it was developed during her artist residency at ESAAA (through the French national PAUSE programme), and presented in collaboration with L’Auditorium Seynod, an official venue of the City Hall of Annecy (Mairie de Annecy). The programme centres on Hong Kong as a fragmented, resilient, and ever-transforming city, using the mythical and architectural memory of Kowloon Walled City as a metaphor for exile, resistance, and cultural survival. It creates a poetic space for reflecting on how memory and identity are carried forward through artistic expression.
The programme consists of three main components:
Cinema : Cinema:Un voyage cinématographique à travers le temps
A journey through Hong Kong cinema, from Wong Kar-Wai retrospectives to new works by emerging directors. The selection traces shifting aesthetics, identities, and urban imaginaries across time. Highlighted films include: (九龍城寨之圍城)– a recent cinematic reimagining of Kowloon Walled City blending action and myth. (燈火闌珊)– a tender story of memory, loss, and the city’s disappearing neon signs, reflecting the quiet resistance in everyday life. These films offer layered reflections on what it means to live, love, and remember in Hong Kong, past and present.
Theatre: Voyage Expiré: La Voie de la Renaissance
Voyage Expiré: La Voie de la Renaissance is a poetic solo performance that blends puppetry, object theatre, and cinematic language. It explores the emotional weight of migration and transformation rooted in Hong Kong’s complex history.
Exhibition: Échos de la Cité Cachée (Echoes of the Hidden City)
Échos de la Cité Cachée (Echoes of the Hidden City) features multidisciplinary works reimagining the Kowloon Walled City: Hoi Chiu (Hong Kong): Sand and ink painting, evoking ruins and memories. Pen SO (Hong Kong): Black-and-white comic illustrations, reinterpreting the urban mythos through a graphic lens. Taejune Ryu (Korea): Installation, transforming archival images and space into immersive memory fragments.
As the first event of its kind in Annecy, this programme positions Hong Kong not only as a subject of remembrance but as a cultural force that continues to inspire across borders.
HÉ - L'HARMONIE (Paris Station)
Bringing Asian productions to Europe is one of my core missions—bridging East and West through performing arts and enriching Paris’s cultural landscape. In 2025, I joined the Paris station of the touring Chinese dance production HÉ – L’HARMONIE by Dance Company (Hong Kong) as Production Assistant.
The programme featured the contemporary dance work Le Sacre du Printemps, which explored themes of harmony, rebirth, and cultural dialogue through Chinese movement vocabulary. The production embodied my passion for intercultural exchange and connecting narratives across borders.

My Role: Production Assistant
Gioventù Murata: Kowloon Walled City x Siena (Hong Kong/Italy)
2018 | Cultural Exchange Programme | Siena, Italy
My Role: Co-organizer, Tutor & Director
This was the first cultural exchange project connecting Kowloon Walled City (Hong Kong) and the city of Siena (Italy). Using Kowloon Walled City as a metaphor for resistance and transformation, the programme brought together video, theatre, and sound artists from Hong Kong to lead workshops with Italian art students. Together, they explored themes of urbanism, memory, and the future of walled cities through interdisciplinary practices. The final presentation featured student performances and new creations by the participating artists.
Viaggio In Occidente (Travel to the West)
2019 | Intercultural Residency | Siena, Italy
My Role: Co-organizer, Tutor & Director
Developed in collaboration with the Italian company Topi Dalmata, this four-week residency brought together artists from Hong Kong, Chengdu, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia. I led workshops with local art students, fostering intercultural exchange through physical theatre, storytelling, and collective creation. The residency culminated in a final presentation featuring performances by students and original works by the participating artists.
