Puppetry &
Mask play
Lok Kan Cheung is a multidisciplinary theatre artist with a rich background in object theatre, puppet theatre, and mask play. She initially worked as a puppeteer and story writer for Hong Kong's Make Friends with Puppet Theatre Company before embarking on her own creative journey. Her recent training in Object Theatre at Mots de Tête Compagnie (formerly Philippe Genty Company), known for its innovative approach to visual storytelling, has deeply influenced her artistic practice.
In addition to her puppet and object theatre expertise, Lok Kan trained in Acting and Movement at the Ecole Internationale de Theatre Jacques Lecoq and at the Ecole Philippe Gaulier de Theatre in France. She has also received traditional Javanese mask and dance training from Supana Pono Wiguno, the artistic director of the Yogyakarta Palace, enriching her performance style with a unique blend of cultural and physical storytelling techniques.
Lok Kan continues to explore new dimensions in theatre, merging physical movement, visual narratives, and poetic dramaturgy to create evocative and thought-provoking performances.
